1. The Chiefs playoff game is on right now. I didn't used to be a big sports person, and I'm still not a huge fan of pro football, but I watched as our Royals made the playoffs two years ago and then won the World Series last year. And this is the second year in a row that the Chiefs made the playoffs. I'd love to see them go all the way, but whatever happens, I will just be happy to see how these victories have brought so much energy and happiness to the city that. Kansas City is a great city, and we're finally letting others see that we truly have something to offer. It makes me proud to be a part of it, even if just in a very small way.
2. Last year, I discovered a hobby that I love. I got serious about reviewing books on my blog, and I've been having a blast ever since. One thing I didn't anticipate is how many people would support this and offer me books for free in exchange for a review. I am so grateful for this, as it means I get to read books that cover an amazing array of topics, and I get to be so excited about books just as they're starting to appear in bookstores. I am so grateful for everyone who has let me read their books, let me talk about their books, read my blog posts, reposted my Facebook posts or retweeted me, clicked on ads, left comments, recommended books for me, or joined my email lists. Thank you for your support! I look forward to a great year of books in 2017!
3. I am grateful for good health. For the past couple of weeks, I've been struggling with some sort of respiratory issue (upper respiratory infection? a cold? bronchitis?), and it's been misery, but it's also been a great reminder of how important good health is on a daily basis. I feel very fortunate to be relatively free from pain and illness. I know not everyone shares that luck, and my heart goes out to those who struggle with pain or discomfort or sickness. May good health and healing prevail in 2017!
