When a Miss Teen pageant contestant shows up to win her pageant, at the same hotel where there is a convention for a Sherlock Holmes-ish television show, all her worlds are colliding. And when she falls for a non-binary convention fan fic writer, they become one of the most unusual couples you can’t help but root for. Especially when their worst bully in their individual lives turns out to be the same woman.
This has so many options for a movie, or even a television series. Fleshing out these characters will not take much imagination, they are so well written. And the contrast between the pageant contestants and the teens at the con, many of whom are cosplayers, offers up so many ideas for colors and textures and visual interest that can add so many layers to the story. This would be a blast to watch on a screen! And it’s a great theme of acceptance for all.
