1. I made my favorite ham and potato casserole in a cheesy sauce tonight, and for the first time in a long time I did not break the sauce. This made me so happy!

2. Last week we got to see Lidia Bastianich talk about her new cookbook Lidia’s The Art of Pasta. We’ve met her before and loved her cookbooks for years, and her local restaurant (we are so lucky to have Lidia’s here in Kansas City!). But I’m not sure we’ve gotten a chance to just sit and hear her talk about her life, her restaurants, her family, how she came to America. If you get the chance to see her on her book tour, grab it. And if you want to learn more about pasta, then I highly recommend her book as well.

3. This weekend was my boyfriend’s birthday. It was a low-key weekend, which I think we both needed. But I’ve been thinking lately about my life in the days before I met him, and I wonder. What did I even do? How did I spend my time? Did anyone even see me? Because I’m not sure anyone did. I had an idea of who I was and what I wanted in life, but I never realized what I was missing. My life now is filled with laughter and love, good food and good cats, and it’s all because of him. He makes me happy, this week and every week. I am so lucky to know him, and I hope you had the best birthday weekend, my love! Love you!!!
