1. Yesterday we went all in on Ted Lasso. We watched the entire first season and started the second. It only took one or two episodes for Brad to get involved, and then we just kept watching. I never doubted it was good, but it is really surprising, and I love that. We were late to AppleTV, but they are doing good work.
2. Ciao House. Tonight was the first episode of this new cooking competition show that is set in Italy. We get to watch some cutthroat competition while also watching Italian masters teach chefs how to cook amazing Italian food. I am so looking forward to learning pasta making from actual Italian grandmothers.
3. We got to see Patrick Hinds on his traveling book party. His book, Failure is Not Not an Option, doesn’t come out until September, but he’s traveling around now sharing a chapter with the audience and just hanging out and chatting. If you’re not familiar with Patrick, I suggest starting with his podcast True Crime Obsessed, where he and pod partner Gillian Pensavale talk about true crime documentaries with humor and heart. And when I saw humor, they’re poking fun at the documentary process, not at the crimes and never at the victims. If you’re looking for a place to start with their impressive library, a couple of my favorite episodes are 150: Class Action Park and 73: Fyre Fraud. Anyway, we really enjoyed getting to hear Patrick talk, and I cannot wait until I get to read the whole book.
