1. Feeling much better. Work is less stressful, the reading is good, and I had enough energy tonight to make homemade chicken pot pie and chocolate chip cookies. What could be better?
2. Today was decision day in the MLS. It’s the last day of the regular season, when all the teams play at the same time. That way, they all finish around the same time (within about 5 minutes or so), so the standings are finalized all at once and everyone knows who is going to the playoffs. I mean, some of that was already known, but this sorted out all those last unknowns. Sporting KC will not be in the playoffs this year. We’ve known that for a few weeks. But they played their hearts out until the end of the season. We had a rough one, with lots of bad injuries early and having to readjust. But after getting some amazing trades in July, Willie Agada and Erik Thommy, we were able to make some real progress. It turned out to be too little, too late, to get us into the playoffs. But they still had a good time out there. They fought hard, scored some great goals, stopped some other ones, and made me proud to be a Sporting KC fan. I look forward to next year!
3. So it was a busy week. There were a lot of random appointments, like my follow-up with the oral surgeon and the annual termite inspection (no termites, and the oral surgeon told me that I had a screw loose—is that the best diagnosis or what?!). And then Saturday was this guy’s regular check-up and teeth cleaning. We take him to Banfield, at our local Pet Smart, and the way they do their appointments is to have the pet parents drop the pet off at the start of the day, and then they call when they are done with the pet and you get to pick them up. It’s such a long day for us, as we sit at home missing our goofball and hoping everything is okay. Now he’s back home and everything seems okay (there are a couple of tests that will take a couple of more days, but they said everything looked good). But getting to be home with DonDon is something that always makes me happy! Love this guy! I mean, just look at that face!
