1. Guy Fieri. It was his birthday last week, so lots of the chefs I follow on social media were posting about it, and I realized that I really am grateful for him. I love his Guy’s Ranch Kitchen, where chefs come to his kitchen at the ranch and cook with the best ingredients and a loose theme, but mostly it just seems like a chance for good chefs to hang out and talk about food. And we get to listen in. Then there’s his new Chance of a Lifetime, where people are on a long interview to lead his next Chicken Guy restaurant. Plus there’s his Guy’s Grocery Games and Diners, Dives, and Drive-Ins. And last week they announced a third season of the Tournament of Champions, expanded so more chefs can take part. He provides us with lots of good food entertainment, and I appreciate that.
2. I went to Beauty Brands over the weekend. and I saw a woman with the most beautiful hair. It was a purpish pink on top and a greenish-blue toward the ends (aka mermaid hair, but it was the most beautiful iteration of it I’d seen in person). It was gorgeous. I couldn’t stop staring at it. It made me consider getting something like that for myself. And then I remembered that (some of) my hair is dark and would need to be bleached first, and then dyed, and it would be a lot of upkeep, none of which I would be happy to do. But as I sat there, I realized it had never occurred to me to dye my hair pink or purple or blue or whatever, and suddenly I felt like things were possible. Now I just need to figure out something that is totally possible that I would want to do.
3. It’s football playoff weekend, and the first three games were a little amazing. Also, I didn’t really need to watch them except the last two minutes. Right now, the Chiefs and Rams are playing, and honestly I’m a little worried about what’s going to happen in those last 2 minutes, but until then, anything is possible. I mean, anything will be possible for most of that last 2 minutes too, but some things will be less likely. Also, this is my cat, and he’s awesome!
