1. Big sports weekend. Tonight was the playoff game for the footballs. The Chiefs went up against the Cincinnati Bengals . . . and they lost. I’m not sure what happened, but in the second half it seemed like they just didn’t want it enough. They fell apart a little, no energy. I feel bad for the players, and especially for the fans, but I’m glad they had a good season. Last weekend’s game will never be forgotten, so that is quite an achievement. It was quite a ride. Now it’s time to focus on the real sports: soccer. Sporting had their first preseason game this weekend, against Colorado Rockies, and they streamed it online for Kansas City folks. There were a few technical glitches, but I got to see most of the match. Score was 0-0, but it was good to see them again.
2. And speaking of sports, this weekend was WWE’s Royal Rumble. This match is my favorite of the entire year. There are always surprises, and there are lots of laughs. The biggest surprise of the night: the return of Ronda Rousey, who ended up winning the women’s Royal Rumble match and will wrestle again at Wrestlemania. But the even bigger surprise to me happened last Wednesday night on AEW (ya, my boyfriend has gotten me to watch that much wrestling. But then, I make him watch a LOT of soccer, so there’s that . . . ). One of the wrestlers reached under the ring to pull out a folding chair, and holding on to the other end of the chair was Danhausen! My bf is a huge fanhausen of Danhausen, so it was great to see him on the show. I’m so glad he signed with AEW and that he’s doing well (he was out with a bad injury at the end of last year), and I can’t wait to see what kind of shenanigans he brings to Wednesday nights!
3. I still have some unused vacation days to use before the beginning of March, so this week I am only working for 2 days, and then I get 3 bonus Caturdays! I am looking forward to sleeping in, reading more, and watching Jerry Springer during the day. And maybe surviving a snowstorm. We’ll see how much of the snow actually shows up. I have an appointment on Wednesday, but I am fine with being snowed in (for real or for pretend) for the rest of the week. Mini-vacation! Yay! That is making me very happy!
