1. I read a book this week on prayer, and it was a lovely reminder that spirituality doesn’t have to take place in a church. I grew up in churches, most of whom told me exactly how I had to worship to be acceptable to God, and most of which made me uncomfortable. But this week I read Julia Cameron’s Seeking Wisdom (much recommended!), and her grace and acceptance reminded me that God has a place for me, just as I am. I don’t have to wear a dress or go to a crowded building to get unwelcome hugs and be lectured about how I should live. I could meet God where I am here, or in nature, on a walk, on a page. It made me feel the way Anne Lamott’s writings make me feel, like I am enough, just as I am. Which is always a good message to hear.

2. It snowed early Saturday morning, so all of Saturday’s plans (cleaning and errands, mostly) were cancelled. It was a snow day, where I got to sit on the sofa all day playing games on my iPad and clearing some things out of the DVR. Jammie pants all day, and grilled cheese and chicken noodle soup for dinner (I’ve never been a fan of tomato soup). The world outside was peaceful, covered in a white blanket and quietude. I didn’t know I needed that, but I really did. It was perfect.

3. Something came up last Sunday night, so we had to put off our birthday celebration a couple of days, but we still had fun licking some frosting off the cake and playing with our new ribbons. Happy Birthday, DonDon! May this year be filled with blessings and purrs, birds to watch from your favorite window and lots of good snugs! We love you!
