1. I’m going to say it: soccer. (Sorry, not sorry.) This weekend was the end of the season for European leagues, so Premiere League is over for the summer and Bundesliga is over for the summer, and that makes me a little sad. But I am grateful to everyone who made those season so amazing, from the players and coaches to the groundskeepers and the security. It was a great season, and as one of the best parts of those final games (in the Premier League anyway; I’m not sure about Germany), there were once again fans in the stadiums. No more piped in fan sounds! And in this interim, MLS is going strong, particularly my Sporting KC boys who are finally starting to look like the team they were meant to be.
2. There have been some family developments lately, and my bf’s mother has moved in with us for a bit. While it’s always a little awkward to add someone new to the household, things have been okay so far. And I am grateful that we have the resources to help. I have found myself at times in my life wanting to jump in and help out family, and sometimes I had the resources and I was happy to do what I could. And other times I didn’t have anything extra to give, and that always made me a little sad. So I am glad that we are able to help. Feeling like I have resources to spare, that I can share with others is such a warm feeling, and I am so grateful to my bf, because it is in large part due to him that I have been blessed with this sort of stability in my life. (Love you!)
3. You know I love a good casserole. Tonight I made my favorite ham and potato casserole in cheese sauce, made with Monterrey jack, white cheddar, and gruyere. I did make the mistake of forgetting to parboil the potatoes beforehand, so they were a little hard, but I can fix that when we heat up the leftovers, and it will be perfect.
