just finished: The Plus One by S.C Lalli, a thriller about wealthy Indian families. Shay starts dating a wealthy man and gets invited to his best friend’s destination wedding in Cabo. Only, the wedding is a joining of two very important families, and on the morning of the wedding, both the bride and groom are murdered. Shay stays close to her boyfriend, to be there for him as he deals with his loss. But she has other reasons for finding out what happened to the couple, and it may take her too close to danger. (I mean, obviously is does. You already know that, right?) It was a fun read though. Watch for it in bookstores Tuesday.
currently reading: Still reading There’s Nothing Wrong with Her. It’s a good book, about discovering all the parts of you that you may have set aside. There is something about this book that makes me want to read it slowly, to savor the discovery.
up next: there are a lot of good books coming out this week, so watch for a new novel from Frances Mayes (Under the Tuscan Sun), Lauren Layne (half of Christina Lauren), Jessa Maxwell (who wrote last year’s The Golden Spoon, which I loved), Jen Deluca, and Emma Lord. It’s all about finishing your summer reading with a bang. And by bang, I mean the a large pile of books on your nightstand to read, that finally grows too tall and falls off, thus the bang.
Also up next for, 30 Breads to Bake Before Your Die, sent by one of my favorite publicists. In the style of 50 Things to Bake Before You Die, this new cookbook is a collection of 30 bread recipes from well-known and loved bakers across the country. This one is out next Tuesday (Aug 20), and will be a great holiday present for anyone wanting to up their bread baking game. It will be delicious!
