just finished: Nothing new. But the book I’m closest to the end is the new Donna Andrews, which comes out Tuesday. The Falcon Always Wings Twice is set in a Renaissance Faire put on by Meg Langslow’s grandmother. One of my favorite moments is when Meg’s grandfather shows up with birds in tow and no one can understand why. He finally explains: “What’s a Wren Fest without wrens?” So they have to explain to him that it’s a Ren Fest, and then he’s all too happy to don a costume and join in as the local alchemist. Have I mentioned how much I love this family? Like maybe here? Or here? Or here? Anyway, if you’re a cozy lover, Donna Andrews writes some of the best out there! Watch for this one in your bookstores Tuesday (or on your favorite bookstore’s website, if you’re like me and still not really shopping in person other than food), and then get ready for another one coming for the holidays: The Gift of the Magpie.

currently reading: I started The First to Lie by Hank Phillippi Ryan, and it’s intriguing. I have a guess as to what’s going on, but with a writer this skilled, I could be completely wrong. It also comes out Tuesday, so keep an eye out. And I’ve been listening to Little Secrets by Jennifer Hillier. I listened to her Jar of Hearts not too long ago, and loved it, and it had a teaser at the end where I heard the first chapter or so of this one, and that was enough to get sucked in.

up next: I have a bunch of fun cookbooks that are coming out soon and there are some good rom coms coming soon. Oh and I may have already read a chapter or two of the new Anthony Horowitz mystery coming in October, Moonflower Murders. It’s another monster book, really 2 books in 1, just like his Magpie Murders. I just need a week off from work to lie around and read it! His books are addictive.
