1. World Cup soccer! It started Thursday, and it’s all over right now. I am loving this. I love the games, I love the posts on social media. It’s fun to read about what the tourists think of the United States, and I am excited to see what happens in the coming weeks.

2. I took my car in to the shop for some work, and it turns out that the car needs as much work as the car is worth (it’s an old car). So I’m thinking about getting a new car. It will still be an old car, but it will be less old than Duncan (yes, I name my cars). Duncan has been good to me, but he has been struggling these last couple of years, and I think it’s time to let him retire. And I can pick something that fits my life now. It will be good for me, and I am happy to find a new car.

3. Today was a perfect summer day. It was sunny and warm but not too hot. It wasn’t humid. The wind wasn’t too strong. It was just absolutely lovely, and that feels like a rare thing. We had storms in town last night, including 2 F-0 tornadoes. Not too close to us, but we still got the thunderstorms. The temperatures have been up and down lately, even up into the 90s already, and it’s only June. We’ve had a bunch of storms, with more than the usual rainfall. Flooding has been an issue far more than drought, for a change. But for at least one day. it was perfect out. I will try to remember this day later in the season, as it gets too hot and too wet or too dry or definitely too humid. We did have at least one truly perfect day.
