1. My birthday was last week, and that meant that it was time for me to get a new driver’s license. I hate dealing with any kind of bureaucracy, so my anxiety was high. I had a stack of papers with me to prove that I am who I say I am and I live where I say I live. I did make an appointment in advance, which made things easier. And all that worry I did was for nothing. Because of the appointment (and maybe a clean driving record? can they check that? do they?), I was in and out of the DMV in less than 15 minutes. Getting that taken care of made me very happy.
2. Last Sunday, i found a nail in my tire. During a busy week, I was able to get the car towed to a tire place and get a new tire with relatively little drama. I was most grateful for my boyfriend, who let me use his car for work until mine got fixed. Life is so much easier when you have a person you can count on in a crisis. Or even during a relatively minor hiccup.
3. Mini golf. I’m not a huge fan of mini golf, but one of our local museums, the Nelson Atkins Museum, has built a course based on several of the art pieces they have in the museum. For my birthday, I wanted to hang out in the museum and play the golf. It was a lovely afternoon. And the golf course was pretty fun. The final hole is based on one of my favorite pieces there, the giant shuttlecocks on the grounds. After mini golf, we ate at one of my favorite local restaurants, Pot Pie. It was delicious.
