1. The weather. While I like to complain about the weather not being autumn-y enough, and that does annoy me, it’s also nice to see someone enjoying this warmer weather. This weekend, our adorable orange cat plopped himself at the front door, laying in the sunshine and keeping an eye on the birds and squirrels who came to eat the birdseed I’d put out for them. The cat couldn’t be happier, and that does make me happy. Love that goof!

2. Air traffic controllers. Despite the government being shut down, they’re still working. And since my boyfriend had to go out of town this weekend, I appreciate their being on the job and staying vigilant to keep him and all the other thousands of travelers safe.

3. My boyfriend lost his uncle last month, and this weekend was the memorial service. He flew out to be with his family, and I stayed her with his mother. She is not able to fly, so I took my laptop over to her place to stream the service for her. Kudos to the church for doing such a good job on the stream, and similar nods of appreciation to everyone who had a hand in the service itself. It was warm and respectful, lovely and moving. It was a celebration of the life of a good man. I feel lucky to have met him, and to get to be a part of the family. Rest in peace, Bob. You were loved, and that love will continue in your memory.
