1. We had a little bit of extra tv time this week, so we got to branch out and finally watch some shows we have been waiting to watch. First, we watched Loki, season one. It was a lot of fun, the god of mischief, having to buckle down and do some real work. The casting was good, the story was interesting (although time travel stories aren’t my favorite), but I was absolutely mesmerized by the look of it. They blended the aesthetic of the 1950s and 1960s (like the dancing candy before the drive-in movies) and tech that we no longer use (like dot matrix printers) with futuristic tech and time travel. Visually, it was so beautiful. And it was lots of fun. I’d recommend it.

2. Second, we binged Obi-Wan all in one night. I thought it was so beautifully done. It takes place after Annakin Skywalker has gone over to the dark side, and Obi-Wan Kenobi was tasked with keeping an eye on the twins. Leia has been adopted by a senator and his wife, and Luke in on Tatooine with a farmer and his wife. Obi-Wan stays close to Luke, working in a boring job for a handful of credits. No one can know that he is a Jedi, as they are currently being hunted. But when Leia is kidnapped at age 10, Obi-Wan has to find her and bring her back home. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this one, as I never saw the prequels. I have thought about it from time to time, but I also feel good about staying true to the original three. They were my childhood, after all. But the young actor the found to play ten-year-old Leia was so amazing that I fell in love with this show. Loved, loved, loved it.

3. Have I talked yet about this season of The Amazing Race? I am loving it. International travel is back on, and it’s just about as crazy as all the other seasons. This time there are no no-elimination rounds, so a team is going home every week. But they’ve been to Germany and Italy and, for the first time ever, Jordan. It was so beautiful and amazing, and that is why I love this show. I see a little of that competitive nature that keeps us going as humans, but mostly I get a glimpse into life around the world. Between getting to see the scenery from my sofa and watching as they perform tasks that have meaning to those areas. I get some history and some sociology and some geography, and I don’t even have to go outside. Love it!
