1. Yesterday was Der Klassiker, the Bundesliga soccer game between Bayern Munich (my boyfriend’s team) and Borussia Dortmund (my team). Bayern won (not a big surprise), but Dortmund put up a good fight, even scoring 2 goals within the first 10 minutes. But mostly I was just happy to get to see a Bundesliga game on television, since EPSN so thoughtfully moved the entire league behind their paywall. So it was lovely to watch the German soccer again, no matter the outcome of the game!
2. We took DonDon in to the vet for his checkup, and he is as healthy as can be. It’s not a surprise, since he’s an energetic 4-year-old, but it’s still nice to hear. And he has a lovely new mani-pedi, which is great for me since he’s decided my comb is his new favorite toy, and sometimes I don’t think about it when I’m combing my hair, and his swipe gets my hand. The one from last week is still healing, so it’s nice to know I have some time before he is once again sharp enough to draw blood. When we got him back home after, he glared at me for awhile, but eventually he curled up on the sofa with me, and that was how we spent the evening.
3. Usually when I wake up in the middle of a dream, it’s because it was an unpleasant dream. But one day last week, I dreamt that Brad and I were out walking and we found ourselves on a street where some Food Network stars were filming a show. Alex Guarnaschelli was there, and Alton Brown, and another food personality whose name I will not mention because I really am not a fan. But they were talking about cake, and they had a giant cake there, and I said something about how I loved cake. So Alex invited me to sit down and eat cake with her, and she and Alton and I talked cake for a bit, and the other food personality that I don’t like walked away and didn’t butt in to my perfect cake dream. I got to eat cake with ICAG and Alton Brown, and I told them my theory about some people being cake people and others being frosting people, and that my idea of the perfect relationship is a cake person with a frosting person, since then everyone gets more of what they want. They were very impressed. (For the record, I am a cake person. My boyfriend is . . . not really a dessert guy. So I get all the cake and the frosting, which wasn’t my ideal, but it works. And he’s worth it. I’ll keep him anyway.)
3.5 I saw that Alton Brown has a new live tour later this year. We have seen him on his last 2 tours, and they were fantastic! His first round of dates sadly does not include Kansas City, but I’m hoping the second round will. And that we will live in a safer world by then and feel like we can go out in public with strangers.
