1. Two numbers: 7 and 2. With the extended colder weather through the middle of the country, the electric companies were having trouble getting the juice flowing to everyone. There were a couple of days we were facing rolling blackouts. So to be good citizens and good persons, we turned the thermostat down to 67. They did the same at my office. So basically there were 3 or 4 days when I was just cold all day long. But the weather warmed up, the electric companies could get things back under control, and we could go back up to the happy 72 degrees I love. I only hope that when I go in to work tomorrow, they’ll be as generous with the numbers.
2. After spending a year at home alone, we finally went out and saw friends. It was Blizzcon weekend, and some friends had a small gathering at their house where we could watch online the Saturday panels. I am not the kind of gamer who cares so much about these things, but my bf and the others there are hardcore WoW (World of Warcraft) players, and they wanted to see the new things. So we hung out with people in person for the first time in over a year, and it was fun. There were snacks, there was lots of laughter, and a good time was had by all. I’m still an introvert and look forward to spending most of my time here at home, just my boyfriend and cat and myself, but it was nice to get out again for a day.
3. A dead battery. It doesn’t sound like a good thing, but after my (best ever!) boyfriend jump started it, it gave me an excuse to spend some time just driving around listening to podcasts (Obsessed with Disappeared!). And if I happened to end up at the Louisburg Cider Mill buying super fresh apple cider doughnuts and some apple and peach butters, then that’s just how it goes. And on the way back, I stopped at the best cookie shop in town and bought the rest of their cinnamon cookies (they’re snickerdoodles without the cream of tartar) and a vanilla shake for him, because he is my rock.
