1. Electricity! Last week, when I plugged in the vacuum clearer upstairs, I blew out the power to the bedroom. We had to have professionals come fix it. But we have power again, which is very exciting for those of us who enjoy lights and fans and talk radio. Electricity is good!

2. Yesterday we went out in the world, for the first time in months. Aside from our usual Saturday errands, which we had been running and then heading straight home again, we also went to our favorite ice cream place, and we visited a local French market which has expanded recently and is filled with amazing products. We will be visiting The French Market many times in the future! But it was good to be out and to see other people shopping and doing things, and most of them were also wearing masks.

3. My birthday is coming up, and my mother already sent me early birthday presents. I got a new scone pan, which I can also use for cornbread (yummy!), some silicone molds for mini doughnuts, and a new cookbook: Hello, Cookie Dough, so I can make edible cookie dough that doesn’t have to be baked (it’s made without eggs; it’s generally the raw eggs that brings out those warnings that eating raw things can make you sick). But I’m excited to get some baking done as the temperatures go down!
