1. Forged in Fire: Beat the Judges. We have been watching Forged in Fire from the beginning. It’s one of those shows we can stream when life is ugly and we need to be reminded that there are still good people, kind people, generous people out there (Great British Bake-Off works well too!). We have seen them all. And this summer, they’re doing Beat the Judges, where 3 of the winners from past seasons come back and complete for a chance to go head-to-head with one of the skilled knife makers who judge the show. It has been so much fun! I don’t know how many episodes are left, but I hope it is many. Seeing David Baker or J. Neilson actually making the knives before our eyes is such a treat! And it’s a lot of fun to catch up with past winners and see them back.
2. The Dateline podcast. It’s basically episodes of Dateline with just the audio track, but I’m fine with that. I can be at work and put that on, and it feels like I’m working at home with the television on in the background. It’s calming and interesting, and I find myself asking: why can’t we do this with more television shows? I realize it wouldn’t work for everything. But as a diehard fan of Newsradio, WKRP, Monarch of the Glen, AbFab, The IT Crowd, and a thousand other shows, I don’t need to watch every moment to know what happens. I would listen to those over and over. Who can I talk to about making this happen?
3. Things are work should finally be slowing down. We’re not completely through this round, but the worst of it is behind us. I’m looking forward to taking July to recover, rest, read, and relax!
