1. I made it through. This was another rough week at work, but we all made it through. This month has been hard, even for 2020, and this week the emotions of so many weeks of frustration were coming out. The good juju is wearing thin, and frustration and aggravation bubbled up midweek overwhelmingly midweek. But we made it through, made it to the weekend, and I spent most of yesterday laying on the sofa watching German soccer and reading. That helped immensely. It was a good day.
2. Premier League soccer is back! Which is doubly exciting, since Bundesliga is wrapping up their season already, even though it feels like it just started back up. We already know who’s winning, as they’re untouchable at this point, and while I like Bayern and respect their play, it might be nice to see a different team win every once in a while. Is that too much to ask?! Anyway, Premier League. Go, Man City! Go, Chelsea! Go, Leicester, because I love an underdog! And, Man U, I’m watching you. As a part owner (I own a share of their stock), I am watching to make sure you are fiscally responsible with my investment capital, meager though it may be. tl;dr: Yay, sportsball!
3. Today is Father’s Day, and while I don’t have a strong father figure in my life now, I can appreciate the fathers out there who are doing their best to take care of their families, to raise their kids well, to teach responsibility and kindness, and to lead by example. This applies especially to a friend of mine from college who has been fostering several kids (boys, mostly) with his partner, and earlier this year, adopted one. I have no doubt that while they struggle with all the emotional nuances of raising kids that have come from complicated backgrounds, they are also doing everything they can to share love, intelligence, kindness, laughter, hugs, fashion, joy, and belonging to those kids who are lucky enough to come into their lives. And although we have no kids, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my boyfriend, the most loving Cat Daddy I’ve ever known. DonDon, Jesse, Rascal, and all the other cats he has known are so fortunate for getting his love, his snuggles, and his devotion to them, and I am so lucky to get to watch them flourish as a result of his love.
