1. We got a meal kit from one of our favorite local chefs, Celina Tio, from her bar The Belfry. It was for a loaded mac and cheese with a Caesar salad and chocolate pudding with bourbon salt. Sounds good, right? Nope. It was so much better than good. It was delicious! It was the best non-home cooked meal I’ve had in a very long time. I appreciate all the places that deliver and offer curbside and all, and it’s been good food, but food prepared by a James Beard award winning chef is like nothing else. She has some kind of flavor secrets that I have never been taught. I am so grateful for that, and for the burger box we’re getting next week. She makes the best burgers in town, and she’s including vanilla bean shortbread cookies.
2. This will be a full week of work, and I think it will be extra busy for us. But then it’s a 3-day weekend! That is always a good thing!
3. I’ve been slow to get with the Real Housewives franchise, but I’ve started watching New York City, and it’s hilarious. I’m only on season 2, and I already have those I adore and those I can’t stand. I love being able to turn away from the real-life drama in the world right now and find an escape in the low-level drama of the Real Housewives or Top Chef or The Worst Cooks (a new celebrity edition just started last week) or Bakeaway Camp with Martha Stewart. All of it is making me happy, and I’m so grateful for Hulu for keeping all those housewives on ice for me, so they’ll be ready when I am.
