1. I had a meeting this week with a woman looking over our processes at work to see if we can be more efficient (which we definitely can be!). I was concerned about talking to her, as I’m not super happy there these days and I was worried about what I might say. The meeting itself was really good. She was intelligent, insightful, and a good listener, and I don’t think I overshared. It gave me a good perspective on where I fit into the bigger picture and made me think about what it is that I want. I think it’s always good to step back every once in awhile and see things from a distance. I appreciated that opportunity.
2. We’re still getting snow every week or two—not much, just enough to remind you it’s still winter—but I’m also seeing hints of spring. There are beautiful blue skies, chocolate bunnies in the stores. And one day at work, there was a fat robin sitting in a tree talking to another fat robin in a nearby tree. There is hope for another season, coming soon. Although probably not quite as soon as we want.
3. I have decided that my focus this year should be self-care. To that end, I’m trying to be gentler on myself, to simplify things, to let go of what I need to and focus on only what’s most important. I feel like I’m making small progress to that end. And for now, any progress is good progress. That makes me happy.
