1. I have been working hard the past few weeks to get things ready, and I think it’s working. I have a little more Christmasing to do today, and then I’m done until I make the Christmas casserole later this week. Things at work have been hectic, to meet all of our deadlines, and once I finish two more big projects for early this week, things will settle down some for the next couple of weeks and then a lot for the next couple of months. I am looking forward to that. So I very happy to know that as of Wednesday this week, all the worst chaos of the printing season at work and the holiday season everywhere else will be over and I can just relax and enjoy the holidays. There will be lots of good food, good books, good tv, and kitty snuggles to enjoy and not much stress. Sounds like it will be an amazing Christmas weekend!
2. I got to see one of my favorite aunts yesterday, from a distance, which I haven’t been able to do for months. It was great to see her and see how well she’s doing in a very difficult year. It was also a little heartbreaking, since I didn’t feel like I could hug her (because my job is requiring us to go into the office, I try to keep my distance from the people I care about, just in case), and because I know how social she is and how hard this must be on her. But she looks great, and she was in good spirits, and her dog Nate in his AC/DC sweatshirt was adorable and spirited, and I’m sure he’s doing a lot to life her spirits. It was good to see how well she was doing. That made me very happy.
3. Supporting local business. One of our local businesses, Charlie Hustle, makes amazing Kansas City shifts/socks/hats/scarves, some of which you may have seen on some of the celebrities who take being from KC seriously, like Paul Rudd, Jason Sudekis, Eric Stonestreet, Rob Riggle, or David Koechner. But this year, of course, they also added masks. And I’ve had my eye on this tote from the library for a while, and it was finally in stock when I had a few extra bucks in my wallet. Even if you’re not from KC, you should give their online store a look because they also have shirts for college teams in the vicinity, Chiefs gear (for Mahomies who live anywhere), and shirts for our local barbecue and beer joints, which will automatically make you look cooler no matter who or where you are.
