1. PBS. I’ve been trying to clear out our over-full dvr on weekends, and this weekend I found Howard’s End that I’d recorded almost a year ago. I got to see all 4 hours of it, and it was simply gorgeous. I’m so grateful that we have a really good public tv station here in town, where they show these beautiful British dramas as well as comedies and cooking shows. I’m looking forward to a 4-day weekend, so I can enjoy more of these gems from Britain and PBS.

2. We have been blessed this year, and by “blessed,” I mean a combination of careful and lucky. We have spent most of the year inside, at home (except for me having to go in to our office for work). We are lucky to have indoor hobbies, so we haven’t been too stir crazy. We are lucky to still have jobs, in an economy where so many have lost theirs. And we have been careful to avoid places that could become hot spots. We’ve worn masks, and we’ve washed and sanitized hands, and we’ve stayed home. And we’ve been pretty healthy (no covid concerns, just the usual aches and pains and sinus issues). We have a kitchen full of food, we have warmth in winter and cool in summer. We have the companionship of a most adorable, happy, funny, amazing cat. And we have each other. There have been a lot of challenges in 2020, but we’ve had a lot of love too. I am most definitely thankful to be here in this life at this time.

3. I have started my Christmas shopping, by mail, and I am happy to report that those purchases tend to come in a box. For some, the box is the present and a great place for a Sunday morning nap.
