Wow, it’s May already. So you know what that means? It’s time for summer reading. Let’s do this!
just finished: well, nothing. I haven’t finished anything new that I haven’t written about.
currently reading: I’ve been craving a Sue Grafton comfort read lately, so that’s what I did. I’ve been listening to H Is for Homicide, and it’s gotten pretty crazy. Kinsey has stumbled into an insurance fraud case, and she is undercover, living with the guy who is in charge of the operation after befriending the woman he loves. She is juggling a lot, and I can’t wait to see how she pulls this off. I read this one years ago, so I don’t remember how this goes, but I know she’ll find a way to get out of the situation mostly unscathed. I love Kinsey Milhone!
I’ve also been listening to Dad, Can You Not? It’s full of dad stories by Chip Leighton, who posts embarrassing teenage texts on social media. The posts are hilarious. I highly recommend them. But this collection is absolutely hilarious. The audio is just a couple of hours long, but the laughs go on and on. It would be perfect for a family car ride.
up next: This summer is the World Cup, and it you want some help getting your kids excited about it, there is Soccer Stars. If you know me at all, then you know I am a soccer nerd with strong opinions. This book includes information about Pele, Lionel Messi, Alex Morgan, and Mia Hamm. And I’ll probably say nice things about the chapter on Cristiano Ronaldo, even if I can’t say many nice things about the person. But I am looking forward to talking soccer and trying to stir up some excitement for the World Cup, for MLS, for the Premier League, for it all. Go football!
