I keep thinking I will be able to calm the screaming goats inside my brain, but it doesn’t get any easier these days. One thing going on in my life just wrecks me. Anyone else feel that way? This way it was a dentist appointment and all the anxiety in the run up. The government shutdown is not helping either. That doesn’t affect me directly, but it does affect family and friends. And the stress of living in a country in constant chaos isn’t helping. I’m trying to get the goats to calm down and read more books, but it is a constant struggle with them. But I will keep trying.

just finished: A Tour to Die For, the second in the series about a tour guide in San Francisco. I liked the first book in the series a lot, and I thought this one was even better. There is a lot of talk about the gold rush. Tour guide Capri Sanzio is giving a walking tour when one of her customers sees a woman in a window, and it looks like someone is strangling her. Capri decides to follow-up with the police and finds that first the woman in the window is missing, and then her customer who saw the potential crime. Did something happen to them, or was Capri being set up somehow? This one is a little crazy, but really good.

currently reading: still reading the new Agatha Raisin, Sugar and Spite. A birdwatcher has been killed and sheep are going missing overnight and being returned the next day. What exactly is going on in the Cotswolds? Whatever it is, Agatha will figure it out.

also reading: At Death’s Dough, the latest in the Deep Dish mystery series. This one is out Tuesday and it’s about a cold case. Really cold. Chef Delilah and her best friend Son and her aunt go ice fishing. And while Delilah is drilling through the ice, she hits something unusual. It turns out that a snorkeler was under the ice. But how did he get there? And why? And why did no one ever report him missing? Delilah and her police detective boyfriend Calvin Capone need to get to the bottom of this cold case.

up next: Thor & Loki: Tales from Marvel Mythology, thanks to Black Dog & Leventhal and the Amazon Vine program. I can’t wait to dive into these stories.
