Can reading make you happier? Does it make you more empathetic to others? The New Yorker took a look at life under the care of a bibliotherapist. The whole article can be found here, but I do want to leave you with this statement, which immediately struck me as incredibly profound for us readers, and which I am pulling from the end of  Ceridwen Dovey's article: 

" 'Fiction and poetry are doses, medicines,' the author Jeanette Winterson has written. 'What they heal is the rupture reality makes on the imagination.' "
