1. Green lights. I like it when traffic lights turn green as I get close. It makes me feel like the universe is saying, "This is exactly where you're supposed to be and where you should be going." It's silly, but it works for me, and it makes me happy.

2. There is a cat sitting next to me on the sofa. That almost never happens. He has his favorite spots throughout the house, because he is the cat. And every once in awhile, he chooses the sofa (usually the spot where I was sitting about 30 seconds previously). But tonight he is sitting beside me, curled up on the sweatshirt I was planning on wearing to work tomorrow. But I won't. Because having a happy, comfortable napping kitty sitting next to me on my sweatshirt is worth so much more than having something to wear tomorrow. That sweatshirt isn't moving until long after he does, and it's so worth it.

3. I made cookies this weekend. I wanted to make snickerdoodles for my awesome boyfriend, because I haven't made any in awhile and because he's going to have a difficult week. And I wanted to make lemon sugar cookies to take to my aunt's today because they are always a big hit for everyone, even people who aren't big on lemon. But I didn't have enough sugar for both, and the easiest solutions didn't seem quite right. Go back to the store? Too much work. Use brown sugar? I wasn't sure the molasses would work with the delicate lemon flavor. Use powdered sugar? That just seemed weird. But I knew that there had to be a solution out there. So I took a deep breath and asked the universe for an elegant solution. And I waited. Sure enough, it came to me. Make half a batch of lemon cookies. I had enough sugar for that. And it would save me baking time and leave me with fewer cookies at the end of the day. It was a perfect, elegant solution, and I am grateful. As are all the family members who ate those lemon sugar cookies today.
