just finished: Worst in Show. It’s a rom com about competing pet stores who decide to take on the local amateur dog show, to give their stores a little padding with that $15,000 winning check. There are some strong You’ve Got Mail vibes with this one, and it’s got lots of charm. Rom-commers will love it.

I’ve also read a book of comics that’s coming out in early September. A Great Big Visual Hug is a collection of Wawawiwa comics, and it’s adorable. There are so many lovely surprises in these heart-warming comics! It will make an amazing birthday or holiday gift, or a just-because gift for someone going through a difficult time.

currently reading: Love and Other Conspiracies, which comes out Tuesday and is amazing! She’s a producer who needs to find a show idea for online entertainment company she works for. He is a podcaster about cryptids and conspiracy theories with a wide knowledge of his subject matter but awkwardness on camera. Together, they make a season of shows where she appears onscreen with him. But the real story may be the chemistry that is developing off-screen as they hunt for ghosts, try to figure out who really killed JFK and why, and talk Bigfoot. And he has a cat named Cthulhu. How adorable is that? If you were always trying to ship Scully and Muldar, this is the book for you.

I’m also reading Heads Will Roll, about an actress taking a break from all media after tweetageddon burned down her entire life. Fired from her popular sit com, kicked out by her boyfriend. Her agent rescued her from her alcohol haze to recommend this camp where she’d be away for all social media for a couple of weeks and having a chance to rest and reset. But then it turns toward old school horror flick. I mean, the title is Heads Will Roll. Take that literally. As I am feeling so ready for fall, this book screams October to me.

up next: this week is the release date for 30 Breads to Bake Before You Die, and I am looking forward to geeking out about bread, which I love. Also out this week is the new Ellie Alexander Bakeshop Mystery, which I love. Sticks and Scones comes out Tuesday. Watch for it.

And I won this beauty on Goodreads. The Seemingly Impossible Love Life of Amada Dean, out September 17. Should be lots of fun!
