Halfway through 2024, yay! And so far behind on how many good boos I want to read, lol! But it’s good. All good.

currently reading: I’m so close to finishing up Summer Fridays, about summers in New York City and what it means to fall in love. It’s such a lovely book for summer! (I’ll talk more about it tomorrow). I’m also reading Farah Heron’s Just Playing House, which is a fun rom com with a serious undertone. Marley is a stylist and personal shopper, and she gets invited to help with a top tier client. After signing 2 different NDAs, she finally finds out that she will be styling movie star Nik, who has just been cast into an action movie based on a comic book. Nik also happens to be the guy she went to prom with in high school, and who ghosted her right after. She is just weeks away from a prophylactic double mastectomy, so she has only a limited amount of time to help Nik out on his press tour. And he’s struggling. But his style is making him come across as warm and inviting, so that’s what’s working most for him now. That’s about as far as I’ve gotten so far, but I have a feeling that there will be some chemistry brewing between these two great characters.

up next: I don’t know. There are so many good books coming out this summer. And tonight I’m just tired. It’s been a rough week. But next week is a holiday, and I’m taking Friday off from work for a nice long weekend. Hopefully there will be lots of good books too.

This weekend, we did take a trip to my favorite local indie bookstore this weekend, and while I thought the books I got were delicious, DonDon thought it was the bag that was tastiest. How cute is he?
