currently reading: I am reading Weekends with You by Alexandra Paige, and it is just beautiful. Lucy has to move out of her tiny London apartment, and her friend Raja invites her to take one of the rooms in the place with her. There are 8 roommates, and while they go their own ways most of the time, they all get together one weekend a month for communal activities. There is one roommate, Henry, who is off traveling most of the month and only shows up for the roommate weekends, and when he first shows up, there is a spark between the two of them that everyone can see. But part of the reason Henry is traveling is because he wants to find somewhere to live besides London, and Lucy doesn’t want to get involved with someone who is actively trying to move away, but she can’t deny that her heart wants Henry. This story is just lovely, sweet and slow and peaceful, and I think romance lovers will really appreciate this thoughtful story.

I’m also listening to another romance, but this one is not the calming influence that Weekends is. What Is Love? is the story of two game show contestants who fell for each other at first sight, and then she took his spot in the game. Both Maxine and Teddy had long winning streaks on the game, and they both won life-changing amounts of money. But it’s not until they get invited back to the show for a champions tournament, going up against the all-time winningest contestant, that they get together to help each other with the weak points in their individual games. But of course, their weak points are for each other, so things get crazy. Author Jen Comfort emphasizes that the game show in question is not Jeopardy! But it’s clearly a show that is the most Jeopardy! a non-Jeopardy! game could be.

Also out this week is Pizza Week, filled with delicious recipes for homemade pizzas and salads, and it’s so much fun!

And also, watch for the next Hawthorne and Horowitz Mystery from Anthony Horowitz, Close to Death. You know I am excited!

up next: The Paris Novel from Ruth Reichl, out next week. I can’t wait!
