currently reading: Off the Air, which came out last week. Local news reporter Jolene Garcia is called to a local radio station because someone collapsed. It’s the station where talk show host Larry Lemmon spouted his controversial ideas and got his followers stirred up in favor of his politics. There were some cookies delivered to the radio station earlier that day, and Larry had been seen eating some shortly before he started feeling ill. One of the paramedics detected signs of cyanide poisoning, but it will be up to Jolene to figure out who sent those cookies, if she wants to be the award-winning journalist she dreams of becoming. I am loving this one. It’s light and fun, and these characters are a hoot. I can’t wait to read more!

And I’m reading the latest in the Secret Staircase mystery series, A Midnight Puzzle. Magician Tempest Raj and her family are getting sued, a local man saying that the shoddy work on a staircase they installed caused his wife to fall. Tempest is sure that he rigged the staircase himself, in an attempt to kill his wife. But when he is summoned, supposedly by Tempest, to the theatre she has been practicing in, he is killed. Can Tempest figure out who is trying to frame her for murder and get her father’s contracting company free from the lawsuit?

up next: Publisher Clarkson Potter has gifted me with a copy of this gorgeous cookbook. And I mean, who doesn’t love pizza? And they’re paired with salads, so you get that lovely fresh component too. I can’t wait to dig in. I have been wanting to make more homemade pizzas. Hopefully I can carve out some time to test a recipe or two. Watch for this one to hit your favorite bookshelf on April 16.
