currently reading: I feel like I’m finally getting back to reading, and it feels good. I’m currently listening to the new Alex Michaelides, The Fury, and it’s fascinating. An actress goes to her island home in Greece with her family and a couple of friends, and not all of them make it through the weekend. The narrator (not the audio book narrator, just the character telling the story) is a playwright with a playful demeanor and a lot of storytelling skill, so this one is a lot of fun. (The audio book narrator, Alex Jennings, does a fantastic job of bringing this character to life, so going with the audio for this one is highly recommended.)

I’m also reading The Night of the Storm, about a single mother trying her best to raise her teenaged son while her ex-husband is threatening to take custody of him and while a hurricane is blowing through. There is so much going on, right from the beginning.

I’m also reading The Recipe for a Charmed Life, about a Paris chef who blows up her life and has to figure out what’s next. She smart and talented, but she has a devastating secret. Some times, when she tastes food, she can only taste bitterness. How can she make a life as a chef when she can’t taste the food? I can’t wait to find out what happens to her.

I’ve also been gifted a copy of Celeste Edmunds’s Garbage Bag Girl, about her experiences growing up in the foster system. As you can guess, the story is heartbreaking and inspiring, and I can’t wait to tell you more about it later this week.
