currently reading: I’m reading Lisa Jewell’s None of This Is True, which is bonkers. A podcaster known for her shows about successful women is starting a new podcast series about a woman who is about to change her life. I’m not sure what all happens, but three people end up dead. But it’s okay that I don’t know much of the story yet. Jewell’s writing is beautiful, and I’m just enjoying the ride.

I’ve also started Jessica Knoll’s Bright Young Women, which is about the women who were left alive at a Florida University after a brutal serial killer sweeps through. If you don’t recognize that description, then you weren’t alive when Ted Bundy attacked four women in a sorority house at Florida State, killing two of them, or you haven’t learned about it from the movies and documentaries about him. Knoll’s book puts the focus on the women, those who were lost and those who survived, celebrating their lives and their strengths instead of focusing on the killer. I’m not in too deep yet, but I think this will be a difficult read. I was young during those last years of Bundy’s life, but I do remember hearing some about him on the news. I remember that he had a type, and young women were cutting their hair and dying it to try to stay safe from him and his penchant for girls with long, dark hair. Bundy was such a monster, and I’m glad Knoll is turning her attention to the women. But this one is still going to be tough to read.

Also out this week is Murder and Mamon, the fourth book in Mia Manansala’s Tita Rosa’s Kitchen Mystery. I’ve been wanting to dive into this series for a long time, as I have heard nothing but good things about them since Arsenic and Adobo hit shelves. And it is living up to the hype. The writing is just as delicious as the pastries sound, and I think there will be lots of fun in these pages filled with family, flavor, and felonies. I can’t wait to spend more time in the Brew-Ha Cafe.

And watch for Dead on Target, the new Agatha Raisin coming out Tuesday. You know I love Aggie, so I can’t wait to dive into this one!

up next: welp, it’s that time of year. School is back in session, Labor Day is over, Halloween candy is filling the shelves, and so it’s obviously time for Christmas books. I have 5 galleys for the week of September 26, and 4 of those are Christmas books. So I’m guessing the Hallmark movies will be along any minute now. Happy holidays!
