currently reading: I’m mostly done with Dave Barry’s Swamp Story, and it’s as hilarious as expected. It’s filled with craziness in the Everglades, and it’s a fun summer read for vacation or for hanging out at the pool on the weekend (or on the sofa in the air conditioning, like me).

This is the week that both Mary Berry revised Baking Bible and Franklin Smoke come out, so I get to spend more time diving in to these gorgeous cookbooks. I can’t wait!

I’m also reading The Comeback from Lily Chu, about Ariadne, a lawyer trying to make partner and spending almost every extra moment working. But when her roommate has to go out of town and lets her cousin stay at their place, Ari finds her world being opened up, whether she wants it to or not.

up next: I’m not sure. For now, I’m just trying to get through one week at a time, so we’ll see about what to read next. However, I did want to mention this lovely. I got this one for Independent Bookstore Day. I read Mary Giuliani’s Tiny Hot Dogs and loved her humor and candor, so when I saw she had another book out, I had to snag it. I hope you got some good books last weekend too, but if you missed it, you can think of any day as Independent Bookstore Day and offer your support in exchange for a stack of happiness. I mean, we can all use more books, right?
