snapshot 4.9

currently reading: I am still working on Susanna Hoffs’s This Bird Has Flown, which I’m enjoying so much! I’m sure I’ll be recommending this one. I’m also still reading Bitches in Bonnets, about the mean girls in the writings of Jane Austen and company. It’s interesting and informative, but it’s also making me want to set the book aside and read through all of Austen’s books again. And then watch the movies. But it’s an interesting book, and I am enjoying it a lot. I’m still listening to The Secret Life of Albert Entwhistle, although I hit a snag with that one last week where (spoiler!) he had to put his cat down. And then Friday was a challenging day, so I gave up and listened to more Sue Grafton. In F Is for Fugitive, Kinsey is trying to solve a cold case, and I am (of course) loving it.

up next: Coming up very soon is the new Katy Birchall. I adored her The Wedding Season and The Secret Bridesmaid. I would love to see either (both!) as movies, as they would make ideal old-fashioned style romantic comedies, very much a You’ve Got Mail or While You Were Sleeping or My Best Friend’s Wedding. Her new one is The Last Word, and I can’t wait to dive in. Also, I won this beauty in a Goodreads giveaway. Mrs. Plansky, a widow in her 70s, is scammed by phone and decides to hunt down those responsible. It’s by Spencer Quinn, who writes the Chet and Bernie mysteries, and it will be out in the world this July.
