So last week I started strong and then work got crazy and it all fell apart. This week may be similar, but I’m gonna try to get more done this week. And then comes Big Book July, when I can do a bunch more reading.
currently reading: Still reading A Thousand Miles, and it just keeps getting better the further in I get. High school sweethearts take a road trip 10 years later, after they haven’t spoken that entire time, and they get to know each all over again. They start in Chicago and head for Colorado, and there are bad choices in Iowa. I don’t want to give away anything more yet, but this trip is crazy! I’ve also been listening to I Hate You More, which came out last November. It’s crazy! Former beauty queen Ruby is now working as a nurse for seniors, and one of her patients wants nothing more than for her Golden Retriever to win the local dog show. When Ruby shows up to register the dog, she is faced with twin brothers. One is running and judging the show, the other trains dogs. Both think she is the most beautiful woman they’ve ever met. And while the dog is turning out to be difficult to train (to say the least), Ruby is enjoying spending time with one of the brothers and getting under his skin. I can’t wait to find out what happens at the dog show!
I’m also reading One of the Girls, which comes out Tuesday. It’s about a hen weekend (bachelorette weekend, for my non-Brit speaking friends) where 6 women go to a remote island in Greece to celebrate. There are secrets and hidden agendas, and I can’t wait to find out how it all gets revealed and who doesn’t make it back home. I’ve also been spending my weekend with Paul Hollywood’s new cookbook. Bake comes out in the middle of next month, and it’s fantastic. If you’re a fan of his, you’ll want to go ahead and pre-order it now. It’s his best recipes, tried and true, and all I need is more time to bake, and I will be so happy. I am loving this cookbook (and enjoying re-watching some GBBO, because why would you not?).
up next: everything. There is so much coming out early in July., including new Ruth Ware (The It Girl), In Her Boots (from the woman who wrote The Chicken Sisters, which is still on my TBR), and Sarah Vaughn’s Reputation, just to name a few. And I won this beauty from St. Martin’s through a Goodreads giveaway, so thanks to both! Can’t wait to read it! Watch for it to hit bookstore shelves early in September.
