snapshot 5.1

currently reading: The Wild Girls by Phoebe Morgan. It’s about 4 friends from college who had a falling out years before, but now they’re coming together for a birthday celebration. Felicity invited them from London to Botswana for a long weekend, all expenses paid, so the other three women make the time for the long weekend even though they all have reasons to question Felicity’s motives. But once they get there, in a beautiful but secluded lodge, they realize that the trip isn’t quite what they thought it would be. I’m about halfway through this one, and it’s a great thriller, keeping me on the edge of my seat. But I still don’t know what it was all those years ago that caused the rift in the friendship, and I really want to know.

I have also started reading I Kissed Shara Wheeler, out this Tuesday. It’s the latest from Casey McQuiston, who gave us Red, White, and Royal Blue and One Last Stop. I haven’t had much of a chance to dive in yet, but it only took one chapter for me to be all in. It’s about the kids at a small Christian school, where the homecoming queen has gone missing. But before she did, she kissed not only the skater boy who lives next door but also another girl, her main competition for valedictorian. I can tell this is going to be all sorts of fun!

up next: I have some French cookbooks that I’m excited about, and then more of my usual mix of thrillers, cozies, rom coms, and kids books (because it too weird a week to stop and look at what’s actually going on the rest of May; although I do know it’s good stuff!). And I didn’t get any bookmail this week, so I don’t have any pictures of new books. And while yesterday was Independent Bookstore Day, and I usually show off my haul, yesterday was too crazy for us to make it to the bookstore. So instead, here are the cutest orange cat paws from my time earlier today as a cat bed. Totes adorbs, amiright?
