currently reading: Getting Clean with Stevie Green. This one is by Swan Huntley, who wrote The Goddesses, which I adored. I still think of that book from time to time, even though I have trouble remembering everything I read last week without some kind of reminder. So I knew I wanted to take my time with this one and really let it sink in. Stevie is an professional organizer, and she wants to help others find themselves by stripping away everything that doesn’t fit in with their vision of themselves. There is something so vulnerable and compelling about her that I just want to keep reading. But I also don’t want to read it too fast, so the experience can last. It’s a really good one. I’m also reading a book that came out late last year that I hadn’t gotten to yet, Fashionistas. It’s about an assistant editor at a fashion magazine who joins in with coworkers to try to oust their difficult editor. Vig Morgan has plans for what she wants to do at the magazine and that editor is standing in her way. But when she starts in on the plan that her coworkers came up with, she learns far more than she expected to about just how the magazine is run. I can’t wait to find out how this one ends!

up next: I am a fan of NPR’s Wait Wait . . . Don’t Tell Me! and one of their regular panelists is an Irish comedian named Maeve Higgins. (If you’re a fan of the show, you may remember her from the infamous “tortoise” story; seriously, click here and listen—it is hilarious!). She has a new book that just came out, Tell Everyone on This Train I Love Them, and I preordered the audio book. It became available last week, so I have some listening to do. I can’t wait! And on the topic of Irish writers, the kind publicists at Kensington Publishing sent me this one, and I can’t wait to jump in. If you’re a fan of these mysteries about Garda Siobhan O’Sullivan and her siblings, then take note because this comes out February 22, and it’s finally time for the wedding!
