just finished: I just finished Fan Fiction by Brent Spiner. Yes, Data from Star Trek: TNG. It’s out October 5, and you will want to make yourself a note now to add that one to your TBR, or better yet, go ahead and pre-order it. He calls is a mom-noir, somewhere between truth and fiction, and it is bonkers and hilarious and surprisingly touching. It’s written from his days of filming the Next Generation, when a crazy fan started stalking him. Some of his co-stars make appearances in the book, along with other Hollywood royalty. It’s an amazing ride, and if you’re a fan of sci fi tv, you know you have to read this one (or better yet, get the audio book, read by the author!). I also just finished Obsession, a ya thriller about a young woman in a coercive relationship. I guess it was stalker week for me! But this one has a lovely surprise ending, and I’ll be talking about it more soon.
currently reading: Right now, I’m reading The Paris Connection, which is out Tuesday. It’s a rom com about a woman who gets split from her boyfriend on a train from Italy to Amsterdam (the train split in the middle of the night—who knew that European trains did that?), and she ends up in Paris. There was a Frenchman on the train who also missed the split and ended up in Paris instead of Amsterdam. He needs to get there for a work thing, and she is a part of her boyfriend’s sister’s wedding that evening. At first the two left behind hate each other, of course. I’m not to the end yet, but there are some precedents for them ending up together (French Kiss comes to mind—I adore that movie!), so I can’t wait to see where their adventures lead them. I’m also reading She Wouldn’t Change a Thing, a freaky time shifting novel that is making my head spin just a little. Again, I can’t wait to see where this one goes. I don’t even have a guess right now.
up next: Soon I’ll be getting ready for the books at the start of September, including the new Lisa Jewell (Before She Disappeared), another rom com called The Charm Offensive, and these two books. From Wednesday Books and author Erin Hahn, it’s Never Saw You Coming. And from Harlequin Trade (Park Row) and author Vera Kurian, it’s Never Saw Me Coming.
