just finished: nothing. I spent Saturday hanging out with friends, so I didn’t get much reading done this weekend.

currently reading: I’ve been reading an adorable middle grade book, The Hatmakers, which came out earlier this month. It’s so much fun and perfect for fans of Lemony Snicket or Trenton Lee Stewart (the Mysterious Benedict Society series, which I love so much!). In The Hatmakers, Cordelia Hatmaker and her family are the hatmakers to the king. As war with France seems imminent, all their hatmaking skills are needed to help bring peace. But someone seems to be working against them, going so far as to steal the Peace Hat they were working on. I can’t wait for Cordelia to figure out who the bad guys is and save the day! I’m also reading Love Is for Losers, about a teenager in Wimbledon, England, dealing with an absent mother, pregnant cats, a godmother with a crush on a bartender much too young for her, a best friend who has dumped her for a new boyfriend, school exams, and a mild Instagram obsession. Phoebe is never afraid to say what she thinks, and I love her! If you love some ya snark, don’t miss this one (it comes out Tuesday)! And I’m still reading Brat. Since I have some time before it comes out, I can savor it slowly, remembering all my teenage angst and those Andrew McCarthy characters I had mad crushes on.

up next: I was so excited this week to get early access to the audiobook of Killer Triggers, the new book by Homicide Hunter’s Lieutenant Joe Kenda. Read by . . . Homicide Hunter’s Lieutenant Joe Kenda. I love everything about that! My, my, my!
