just finished: Eight Perfect Hours, about a woman who keeps running into the same guy (tall and dreamy guy, I might add), trying to figure out if fate is trying to bring them together, or it it’s something else altogether.

currently reading: Hello, Transcriber. It’s a dark thriller about a woman who works nights as a police transcriber in a town with a bridge known for suicides. I’m not too far in yet, so I don’t really know much about what’s happening, but it is all-consuming as a thriller, so I’m all in! I’m also close to done listening to Jenn McKinlay’s latest cozy on audio, Killer Research. And I’m closing in on the last third of Hank Phillippi Ryan’s Her Perfect Life, so the pieces are starting to fall into place. Somewhat. Ryan always plays some of her cards close to the vest.

up next: This is the spoils from Small Business Saturday, when we headed to our local indie bookstore, Rainy Day Books. I got the latest collection of Douglas Coupland stories, a ghosty book called The Spirits Up which I had never even heard of (that’s my favorite reason to go to my local bookstore, to find things not on my radar yet), and my (best ever!) boyfriend got me The Man with the Silver Saab by Alexander McCall Smith. And yes, that is a sticker on the front of it that says Signed First Edition. Score! (Another reason to love my local indie!) And my bf also picked up the newest Gordon Ramsay cookbook as well as the latest one from Lidia Bastianich. So excited! Now I just need to find more time . . .

p.s. I said the books in the pic below were the spoils of our bookstore trip, but I also scored a free audiobook from Libro.fm for spending just $15 from my local indie. If you’re interested in a free audiobook—and they’re good, recent audiobooks—head to their website and submit your receipt (screenshots count) by midnight PT on 11/30/21. They’ll send out the links to the books the next week. You do need their app to listen to it, but it’s super easy to use once you get it downloaded. I can’t wait to listen to Dave Grohl’s The Storyteller for my free audiobook.
