Is it just me, or has October flown by?
just finished: The Last Guest by Tess Little. It’s about a party at a Hollywood mansion, a birthday party for an actor/director/producer. There are only a handful of guests, and when one of the partygoers ends up dead, the host’s ex-wife tries to figure out which of the guests could have done that.
currently reading: a lovely Asian baking cookbook, Mooncakes and Milk Bread by Kristina Cho. I haven’t had much of a chance to read it yet, but what I have read is just lovely. I am looking forward to more! I’ve also started listening to Jenn McKinley’s One for the Books on audio. Librarian Lindsey and caption Sully are finally getting married! They were planning on a small ceremony, but Lindsey accidentally gave the calligrapher the wrong list and a lot more people got invited than they are expecting. Now, I haven’t really gotten much further than that so far, but I’m going to guess that since this is a murder mystery, they’ll be down one of their guests at some point. But it’s sweet and charming, and I look forward to seeing what happens.
up next: catching up! There are a lot more good books coming out early in November, and some gift books later in the month, but I will spending the next couple of months trying to get caught up on some of the amazing books I’ve missed this year. Also, thanks to Random House and Goodreads giveaways, I scored a copy of this one, and I can’t wait to dig in! It’s Our Country Friends by Gary Shteyngart, and I’ve heard lots of really good things about it.
