just finished: nothing. But I am closing in on the ending of Four Funerals and Maybe a Wedding, the Royal Spyness mystery that came out last spring. I wasn’t sure if I would like it. This is the first of Rhys Bowen’s books that I’ve read, and I’m not usually big on historical fiction. However, I am having a ball with this, and I will be recommending it later this week. I got a great deal on the audio book a week or so ago, so I’ve been listening. I think I’ll be able to finish it tomorrow, and I can’t wait!
currently reading: more cozies that came out last spring. I’m about a third a way through Kate Carlisle’s latest in her Bibliophile mysteries, about a bookbinder who has a way of discovering dead bodies. I’ve read one of these before, about Brooklyn and her penchant for stumbling into mysteries, and this one is just as charming. In this one, she’s back in her hometown of Dharma, California for a book festival, so there are books, there is wine, and there are lots of family members all over. I’ve also made a start of Sofie Ryan’s Claw Enforcement, the latest in her Second Chance Cat Mystery series, and while I’m not too far in yet, I’m still enjoying hearing all about her cat Elvis and her Second Chance store as well as all her friends and family.
up next: my last 2 mysteries for my cozy Christmas week, Jenn McKinley’s Buried to the Brim, the latest in her Hat Shop Mystery series, and Jennifer J. Chow’s debut in her Sassy Cat series, Mimi Lee Gets a Clue, which I also have on audio. And then the coziness will wrap into the next week, because I scored an early copy of Ellie Alexander’s latest Bakeshop Mystery, Chilled to the Cone, which comes out on the 29th. The holidays are a good time to read about people killing other people, right?
