just finished: Going Green, the new one by Nick Spalding. He’s always good for a laugh or two, and this was no exception. More about it tomorrow. And I finished reading The Perfect Escape, a ya rom com about high school seniors who meet while working for a zombie escape room. It’s a lot of fun!

currently reading: Author and artist Austin Kleon has written several books of advice and inspiration for artists or anyone who wants to add a little creativity in their lives: Steal Like an Artist, Show Your Work, and Keep Going. They’ve been collected into one audio book, read by the author, and while I’ve read some of these, this week I will jump into the audio versions and hear what he has to say in his own voice. I do love it when authors read their own books, especially when they’re personal like this. (For anyone still looking for a gift for the young artists in their lives, this would be ideal!) I’m also reading Only Mostly Devastated, another ya rom com, this one about two young men who had a summer fling and then end up at the same school in the fall (wait—this sounds a lot like Grease! Now I’m going to have those songs running through my head as I read. “Summer Loving, had me a blast . . .”). But seriously, this is a charming rom com with great characters, and I can’t wait to see where this story takes these guys.

up next: I’ve decided to go with a theme for Christmas week: a cozy Christmas. Meaning, I’ll be reading and blogging about cozy mysteries all week, using this as an excuse to get caught up with a few of those I’ve been meaning to get to and haven’t. So watch for that coming up next week. In the meantime, I will be reading with my new hot beverages, Christmas presents to myself, thanks to Christopher Elbow and The Republic of Tea.
