just finished: I spent part of my weekend reading about cakes and pies, but last week I read Secret Santa. It’s a comedic horror novel set in publishing in the 1980s. It’s hilarious! If you need a secret Santa gift this year, this book would be perfect!

currently reading: I’m making my way through Moonflower Murders, Anthony Horowitz’s follow-up to Magpie Murders. If you read Magpie Murders, then you remember it as a novel within a novel, an Atticus Pund detective novel inside the mystery that editor Susan Ryeland is chasing. This one has a similar setup, and I’ve just finished the Atticus Pund novel inside the bigger mystery. But I haven’t yet figured out how they fit together. This one is so much fun! I love these novels, and knowing that this second one exists makes me hopeful that we will eventually be getting to read all the Atticus Pund novels in books like these. I’m also reading the new Agatha Raisin that comes out Tuesday, Hot to Trot, and it is classic Aggie. I love getting to spend time in the Cotswolds with her and her gang! M.C. Beaton may have passed on, but she did leave Agatha in good hands, and it’s a lovely legacy for all of us who loved her so much!

up next: I picked up the audio book of Pappyland. It’s the story of the Van Winkles and their bourbon, and I think it will be lots of fun. I’m hoping to carve some time to read it before the end of the year. In the meantime, I will continue to be plugging away with my reviews and celebrations, right here, with my trusted assistant.
