recently finished: Fitness Junkie, by the freakishly talented writing team who brought us The Knockoff. In this one, a woman is asked to lose 30 pounds to keep her job, and finds a strange underworld of broccoli water, sadistic spin class instructors, organic menu options that make the head spin, and $15,000/week fitness retreats. This novel is so fantastic! It comes out Tuesday, along with Edgar Cantero's Meddling Kids and Janelle Brown's Watch Me Disappear. This is a big book week, people. Prepare yourselves!
currently reading: Curves, Kisses, and Chocolate Ice Cream, a fun novel about a woman who needs a new start in life, so she moves to the city of her childhood and runs an ice cream store. As she experiments with flavors, she also gets a chance to experiment with her own life and reinvent herself as she likes. I haven't gotten very far yet, but to me this is the perfect read for a summer day, or for a lazy Sunday anytime of the year.
up next: 10 Dead Comedians, also out this Tuesday, which is a rewrite of Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None, but with a group of comedians who get summoned to an island retreat. This is getting rave reviews, and I can't wait to see for myself why. I am also really looking forward to The Secret Diary of Hendrick Groen, which also comes out Tuesday (did I mention that this is a big book week, with lots of fantastic releases?), and I keep hearing wonderful things about. My favorite comparison so far is that it's like The Office, but in a retirement home. I can't wait to dive in!
