recently finished: I finished William Daniels' memoir. It's amazing! I'll talk more about that tomorrow. And I'm almost finished with a book that's focused on hard cider. It's not out until late July, so I'll wait to talk about it then, but it's gorgeous and fascinating. I can't wait to talk about it!

currently reading: A book that teaches millennials about achieving financial freedom. Restaurant critic A.A. Gill's memoir about dealing with his alcoholism. And Ill Will, Dan Chaon's novel about a family whose lives get pulled apart by tragedy and injustice. Actually, I don't know for sure if that's what it's about. I'm only about 20% of the way in, and the what-it's-about has already changed several times. But it's so compelling. It comes out Tuesday, and it's definitely one to look for. Not only will I be telling you how good it is, but it's on just about everyone's list of Must Read Books of March.

up next: A novel called The Cutaway about a television news producer's search for a missing woman, which comes out later this month. A new collection of essays about Annabelle Gurwitch's family, written by a true expert on the topic (Annabelle Gurwitch), which comes out in April. And a non-fiction book about the World Series win by the Chicago Cubs, also out in April. While I'm not a huge Cubs fan myself, I'm hoping to relive some of the glory of the previous year, when my very own Kansas City Royals took that top honor. There is another big, beautiful British cookbook coming out later this month, and I've got some more novels coming out this year that I am so excited about! 2017 is a good book year!
