mindfulness card deck
I struggle with anxiety. Some days, my mind just gets to swirling, and I have trouble finding perspective. One thing that has helped me is mindfulness. I’ve read some books and tried some of the practices, but when my anxiety gets loud, it’s hard for me to remember what I’ve read.
These Mindfulness Cards help me stay focused on my mental well-being. There are 52 cards, one for each week of the year. Each card includes an affirmation, a thoughtful exercise, a question to help process the exercise, and an explanation of how the exercise can help moving forward. There is a short booklet to explain how to use the cards, and there is a wooden stand, so you can keep your weekly affirmation in sight for difficult moments.
The cards come in four categories, Somatic Awareness, Sensory Awareness, Emotional and Self-Awareness, and Mindful Living. The Somatic Awareness cards emphasize the physical body, so the exercises involve breathing, gentle movements, and a body scan.
The Sensory Awareness cards explore the five senses, and the exercises include selective listening, barefoot grounding, and a sensory shower. The Emotional and Self-Awareness cards focus on thoughts and emotions, so those exercises are a loving-kindness meditation, freehand expression, and urge surfing. The Mindful Living cards help readers integrate mindfulness into everyday living, and the exercises include mindful working, savoring bites, and mental reset.
The front of each card has an affirmation, like “I am grateful for the simple pleasures this moment brings” or I nurture happiness and connection by being kind to myself and others” or “I let my breath anchor me in this moment, quiet and still.” And all the cards are designed in soothing greens and neutrals with natural illustrations, reinforcing the grounding aspects of the mindfulness cards.
I love that these cards are so versatile. I can use them as a weekly mindfulness meditation practice, building my ability to calm myself and lowering my stress over time. Or if I’m having a bad moment, I can read them over and find an affirmation or an exercise that will help ground me in the moment. These mindfulness cards are the perfect gift for anyone you know who wants to become more grounded and mindful in life, even if that person is you.
