silicone star cake pan

silicone star cake pan

These are fun pans. I tried them out with a chocolate cake mix, and the cakes baked up beautifully. (If you’re looking at my photos and wondering about the dark dots left in the pan after I removed the cake, they are from mini chocolate chips in the cake). The silicone washes up beautifully, and the cakes came out of the pan with ease, no extra greasing or spraying needed.

My one issue with the pans is that they are very flexible. I’ve used other silicone baking pans, and they are flexible also. But the star design makes these especially vulnerable. I needed to have a sheet pan underneath them to stabilize them, and once I took the cakes out of the pan, they were vulnerable to breaking. I think these pans will do better with sturdier bakes, like brownies or cookies. I’ll try that next time. But I will say that the cakes were perfectly baked and tasted delicious. They just needed some extra looking after or they both would have broken in half the way the first one out of the pan did when I tried to move it off the cooling rack. With care and attention, these pans will make beautiful cakes.
